Product Details
Product DescriptionBuilt for power, speed, control, and ease, this 1000-watt appliance flattens and bakes 10-inch tortilla wraps, pitas, chapati, roti, and other flatbreads. Key to its performance are heavyweight die-cast aluminum top and bottom cooking plates that quickly and uniformly distribute heat so there are no hot spots to scorch breads. The plates are coated with nonstick material for easy release and simple wipe-clean convenience. An automatic temperature control takes the guesswork out of cooking, and a light signals when the flatbread maker has been heated to the proper temperature. A cord wrap reduces clutter, and the appliance can stand on end for storage. --Fred BrackProduct Features* Flattens and bakes 10-inch tortilla wraps, pita, chapati, and other flatbreads* Heavyweight die-cast aluminum cooking plates distribute heat evenly * Nonstick cooking plates release breads easily, wipe clean * 1000 watts of power, automatic temperature control, ready light * Convenient cord wrap; stands on end for storage Accessories
Customer ReviewsRated If you love homemade Indian roti/chapati and you don't have a gas stove then you will love this product. If you putting the dough balls directly in it then make sure that it is as soft as possible (so it can easily be flattened inside the maker). Or you can always use it to cook a pre flattened dough. Rated I have owned a Villaware tortilla press for 2 years, and I could never again go back to buying tortillas in the store. It makes the best tortillas we've ever had, and everyone who has them at our house is totally sold! Worth every penny! I promise, you won't be disappointed!! Rated I paid $[...] for this and this product is a crap. Tried every trick listed here and elsewhere, but did not do what it was supposed to do (make tortillas). DO NOT BUY. Rated I had an 8" Mica tortilla maker that worked like a charm and lasted for years with no sticking problems and was amazingly consistent. When it finally broke I decided that I'd like to try a 10" tortilla maker and ordered the VillaWare. I had read the reviews about the potential sticking problem but decided it was worth the risk. Unfortunately the VillaWare has proved to me that non stick surfaces can be incredibly sticky. I used the same dough recipe that I had used for years with the Mica so that should not have been an issue. While that was disappointing, I have kept using it with tons of non stick spray and a plastic spatula. I keep two iron skillets heating on the stove and as soon as I have flattened out and slightly heated up the tortilla I move it to the pan to cook and start on the next one and it speeds up the whole process immensely. That way I can get the nice browning that my Hispanic friend values so much without them getting over cooked. (It should be mentioned that the heating of this tortilla maker is not what it should be either at least compared to the Mica). I give it three stars due to it being one of the few that offers a 10" and while it doesn't work as well as I would like it, does work. Rated This machine is a dud. No matter how one tried, it does not produce decent tortillas - either wheat or corn, following the instructions carefully. Moreover, after using it three times, the handle broke. Save your money. Go the supermarket and buy all the ready made tortillas you want. Similar Products
