Product Description

"A few months ago, I had not even heard of NCIS," a terrorist remarks in the gripping season opener, "Truth or Consequences," a benchmark episode. Where's he been? NCIS was television's top-rated scripted drama, an impressive achievement for a show in its seventh season. NCIS may not have any Emmys to its credit or generate water cooler buzz, but it's got a devoted fan base who will follow Special Agent Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and the rest of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service wherever their investigations take them. In the brilliantly constructed and executed "Truth or Consequences," it's North Africa, where movie-referencing hunk Special Agent DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and McGee (Sean Murray) have been captured while investigating Ziva's disappearance. For uninitiated "probies," this episode serves as a series primer as DiNozzo, tied to a chair and shot up with sodium pentothal, gives a rundown to his captor about the rest of the team and their standing in the NCIS universe. There is considerable comfort to be taken in the show's format. Episodes usually begin with discovery of a shocking and grisly murder, then office banter and byplay until Gibbs announces said crime ("We got a dead marine, grab your gear") and then the labyrinthine investigation leading to an act 4 twist. This isn't Law and Order, where sometimes the guilty walk. This is NCIS and justice is always served. But it's not the crimes; it's the characters that are at the heart of this series' enduring popularity. This season provides Ziva (Cote de Pablo) with an especially satisfying arc as she quits the Mossad to become an actual NCIS agent and studies for her United States citizenship exam. Her will they-won't they romantic tension with DiNozzo simmers satisfactorily over the course of the season. Season 7 comes full circle with Gibbs's capture by Mexican drug cartel leader Paloma Reynosa, seeking revenge for Gibbs's murder of her father. She offers him a career change. "You might as well put a bullet in my head," Gibbs predictably replies. But she ups the ante in an unspeakably bad way that is the stuff season-ending cliffhangers are made of. This DVD contains interesting special features that immerse viewers in the production of the series, from the sound design to the design of Gibbs's house, which is seen for the first time this season. --Donald Liebenson

Well, my wife LOVES NCIS, and I have to say I am a fan as well. I have bought all Seasons thus far w/o hesitation. This is in no part Amazon's fault, but this has been my experience with NCIS Season Seven:

Defective DVDs. The first Set I received, Disk 1 and 6 were unplayable. This has been my first problem with regards of items I have purchased from Amazon. No biggy, because they are great on getting you a replacement, even if you have yet to ship them your defective copy. Sent my first copy the very next day of Replacement order, got new copy 2 days later.

Defective DVDs, again! This time, along with Disk 1 and 6, we add 3 to the list. I just asked for a refund and will wait a couple of months and hopefully Amazon will get good DVDs. Either that or I am truly unlucky with this order in getting the 2 DVD Set with Damaged DVDs.

The defect is VERY visible, it's like random smears instead of smooth data on the recording. It looks like water was mixed in with the burning of the DVD disks, so you can have a visual. Disk 1, on both sets, froze and would not proceed after the first few warning screens, never got to Main Menu. Disk 6 would play first episode and then the smear would prevent from that episode to finish, much less play any other episode. On the 2nd DVD Set, Disk 3 was in the same boat as Disk 1.

I will buy again, but will wait for the second round of DVD Set to circulate. Again, this is clearly not Amazon's fault, who ever is in charge of burning the DVDs really did a low end job for this Season.

I would appreciate other Amazon members to leave comments to this review if you have experienced this. If not, then clearly I got the bad batch, and will buy again ASAP. Hopefully 3rd is the charm.

I am another late bloomer to this show (having been more interested in Stargate SG! and Stargate Atlantis) but have come to love the show and the characters.

My favorite character is Gibbs, with Tony DiNozzo a close second. I like how Mark Harmon plays him and how his character has evolved over the seasons. I would love to have a boss like him that I could trust to have my "six".

The only thing that I wish is that they would do more commentaries on the episodes. The other shows that I have DVD sets (Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis, they actually have commentaries on almost all of their episodes after season 3 from actors, directors and producers) have more commentaries. I find it fun to hear what the actor/director was thinking when they did a particular scene, or relate a funny moment.

Michael Weatherly and Pauley Perrette's commentaries were a lot of fun. It made me want to be there with them.

Anyway, I'm now an ardent fan (I even read as much NCIS fanfiction as I can get my hands on - LOL) and will be here for years to come.

I am a big fan of NCIS. The chemistry between the agents is really fun. I never though that Mark Harmon would be able to pull it off but he actually does, do to the great staff. The DVD is worth watching it includes many eppisodes for cheap money. This would have been my favorite season if it had not been interrupted. I bought the season 7 NCIS DVD for the second half of the shows. I feel strong that the beginning of the season was the best ever put on tv. This unusual drama with a great cast in which every charcter is unique. Unfortunatly the last half of the season dragged with episodes related to a drug cartel and a few strange episodes like Obsession.

I finished my Season 6 set after Season 7 started so I didn't watch NCIS on TV. I waited anxiously for this set to finally arrive and as I expected this season didn't disappoint.

Everything I've come to love about NCIS is still strong in Season 7 and I can't wait for the Season 8 premiere. Already have the DVR set to start recording this season. I'll still most likely buy Season 8 on DVD when it comes out.

A great core and awesome guest stars. Call of Silence (from Season 2) is still my favorite episode as all the little things they do to honor the MoH recipient, really make it special.

On certain episodes there is a high pitched squeal recorded in the soundtrack. It goes away with muting or pausing, so Im sure it's in the soundtrack. Other than that, NCIS remains one of my all time favorites and I own all seasons as to date. The one thing I dislike about this season is the play all selection. Its missing. So no longer can you watch them back to back without having to hit the remote after every episode. Other than those two problems, it's NCIS. Am going to contaAmazon and see if there is a defective set of these, as there was with The Andy Griffith Show where the laugh tracks were left off some seasons. They swapped them out no problem.
